The TetherexX™ System for Recombinant MVA
The stably integrated tetR gene in AGE1.CR.ReX® is the foundation of the TetherexX™ System, our proprietary approach for rapid generation and rescue of pure recombinant MVA. Tetherin is a cellular factor of the innate immune system and used here as a novel selection marker. By controlling tetherin expression via TetR, the system selectively eliminates parental virus, delivering pure recombinant MVA in just three passages without plaque picking or operator-assisted steps.

The AGE1.CR.ReX® is adapted for suspension culture. The chemically-defined culture media is also available in a powder format to ensure long shelf life, smart storage, and supply chain features.
Master cell banks (MCB) and working cell banks (WCB) are available. Extensive safety testing in vitro and in vivo demonstrated repeatedly that no adventitious agents are present. This safety profile is confirmed by transcriptome analysis against pathogen databases. There are no known or new viral species present in the AGE1.CR.ReX® cell line.
AGE1.CR.ReX® is a universal platform for a variety of viral vectors and vaccine manufacturing, e.g. gene-therapeutical vectors, oncolytic viruses, and attenuated and vectored vaccines to prevent and cure diseases. The platform of choice especially when transgene stability and high-titer poxvirus production appear to be mutually exclusive.
AGE1.CR.ReX® has demonstrated highly beneficial vaccine production properties, also beyond MVA. A variety of viruses, viral vectors, and vaccine strains have been shown to replicate in AGE1.CR.ReX®:
